The Sport Spirit of the Civil Society

In the bIt has been a long time since the City Square was full of people who have gathered there not for a political meeting, strike, protest or similar (tiring) occasion, but from pure joy. On 19 May the City Square was full of joy and happiness that the women handball players from the “Cometal Gorche Petrov” team has brought to us when they became European handball champions.

Although it is unusual for the “Civic World” to publish information in the “Sports” column, we made an exception this time and decided to do it because, as you probably know, the sport associations, too, are categorized as citizen associations.

So, the success of “Cometal Gorche Petrov” is in a way success of the civic sector in Macedonia. However, it is most important that they, through this success managed to join the citizens of Macedonia in a mutual joy. And it was confirmed once again that the sport and the sport spirit cherish and convey the values that all NGOs stand for – the values that we the idea of the civil society aims for: cooperation, teamwork, erasing the intolerance between ethnicities, gaining of success and result with one’s own effort, etc.
