Promotion of the third edition of "Civic Practices"
Roma education in Macedonia
One day after the International Roma Day - 9 April, the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation promoted the third edition of "Civic Practices", called "Roma education in Macedonia". The authors Elena Tashkova, Slavko Sazdovski, Blagoja Trajkovski, Tihomir Karanfilov and Anifa Demirovska have given a modest, but significant review of the civic organizations' experiences and certain evaluations of the so-far results, and their attitudes are considered a great contribution to a quality a serious treatment of the various aspects of education. The book was promoted by Ahmet Jasharovski from the Centre of Roma community DROM from Kumanovo, and the facilitator was Nahida Zehirova from MCIC. "This publications addresses the Roma issue, and the texts offer certain solutions. The authors have presented the problems through official statistics and their sources", stated at the promotion Ahmet Jasharevski, after which a discussion took place dedicated to the Roma educational problems.
Besides the promoters, the questions asked by the guests from several, mostly Roma civic organizations, were answered by the facilitators Marija Milosevska from the Direction for education of the communities at the Ministry of Science and Rosa Perushoska from the Bureau for educational development. The alarming condition with the Roma education was emphasized by some of the present participants.
"Of 1000 pupils from Suto Orizari, primary school education is completed by 100 pupils at most, which is hardly 10 percent", were the words of Ljativ Demirovski from the Roma organization "Darhija"
