Let's implement Natura 2000

The World Wildlife Fund - WWF has called the ten-new member-states of the EU, plus Romania and Bulgaria to implement the principles and the recommendations of the network Natura 2000 that refers to the protection and conservation of nature.

WWF emphasizes that most of these countries have adopted lists of protected areas. In comparison to the protected areas in the "old" EU member-states, where 18% of the territories are protected on average, in most of the "new" member-states that percentage is much higher. However, it must not remain on paper, but these areas have to be protected according the established Natura 2000 criteria, especially from the threats such as the mass tourism or the roads construction.
