Women of the 21-century

Macedonia, in cooperation with the NGO sector assumed the role of a leader and organizer of the Second conference “Women in the 21st century”: The women role in the Southeastern European democratic processes development. The conference was supposed to take place in May 2001, however, due to the war and political crisis in Macedonia the activities have been put off.

The conference “Women in the 21st century” will take place from 14-22 April 21, 2002 in Ohrid, at the Metropol and Bellevue hotels.

The first women-leaders conference called “Women in the 21st Century”: Overcoming borders and sustainable development in the South-Eastern Europe, whose basic aim is to improve the position of women in the South-Eastern Europe in all spheres of living, took place in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1998.

The conference will contribute to the improvement of the position of women in the South-Eastern Europe in all spheres of living, and the work will be divided into two plenary sessions and four work groups: “Women rights-human rights”, “Socio-economic development”, “Decision Process”, and “Civic Society”. The conclusions from the work groups will be presented at the final plenary session and a mutual declaration will be adopted.
