Metamorphosis & MCET

Training for journalists On European Integration and ICT

The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Center Metamorphosis, organized the seminar "Journalists and the challenges of the information society," attended by 19 journalists from Macedonia, taking place in Ohrid, November 14-16, 2003. It included workshop activities and 8 lectures on various aspects of local and regional ICT development by relevant experts.

The lecturers included the Executive Director of MT.Net, the biggest ISP in the country, representatives of Free Software - Macedonia, Microsoft, Ministry of Interior - Cybercrime Department, UNDP, Transpatrency - Macedonia, Institute for Informatics of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and the Center for Development of Internet from Belgrade.

At the end of the seminar, the participants filled in an evaluation questionnaire, with majority of them (15) opting to attend a future training regarding the various aspects of European integration related to ICT.

Guided by this need and the importance of the subject, Metamorphosis, in cooperation with MCET (Macedonian Center for European Training), will organize a free training for journalists about "European Integration and ICT." The training is scheduled for January 30-31, 2004, in the offices of MCET (ul "Kole Nedelkovski" 12a, Skopje).

The agenda of the training includes:
-Political and economical reasons for European Integration
-The institutions of European Union and European Community
-eEurope - challenges and achievements of member states
- EU competition policy for ICT
-Legislation of ICT
-Aproximation of the legislation for ICT
