Reintegration and revitalization of the conflict regions
The Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation (MCIC) together with the German Consulting House Fact 8, held a workshops called "Reintegration of the displaced people and revitalization of the conflict regions in Macedonia", on 8 April in Skopje. For that goal, the MCIC previously carried out a mission and prepared a study with conclusions regarding the actual situation, ideas and directions for further activities. The study served as a basis for discussion at the workshop, the contents of which was presented in front of the government representatives, the local government, representatives from the embassies and international organizations, the business-sector and the civic organizations. "I hope that we can contribute to the complete resolution of the remained questions regarding the displaced people in Macedonia and the accelerated revitalization of the former conflict regions through open debates on the conclusions, through a discussion on the study recommendations and through determining directions for actions that the relevant actors are to take", said Saso Klekovski, MCIC executive director.
The workshop included representatives from organizations and institutions in charge of or involved in finding solutions in the field of reintegration and revitalization of the former conflict regions - delegates from the former conflict regions, ministers, experts from several ministries, mayors from all municipalities in the conflict regions, relevant people from the embassies and international organizations, v=civic organizations, the University of "St Kiril and Metodij" from Skopje. The chairman of the workshops was Mirko Spiroski, MCIC president, and the working languages were Macedonian, Albanian and English.
