Economic Forum
Improving the municipality budget management
On 16th and 17th November 2005, The Open Society Institute - Macedonia Foundation, in cooperation with the Centre for Economic Analyses, organized an Economic Forum on “Improving the municipality budget management”.
This Forum is a continuation of the issues covered by the workshop called “Measuring the fiscal capacity of the local government units (LGU) in the Republic of Macedonia”, which took place on 24th and 25th February 2005 in Skopje. It is dedicated to the decentralization, since it is one of the largest system reforms in the late history of independent Macedonia.
The subject of the second Economic Forum is: identifying the key reforms in the local level budgeting and offering (through a constructive debate) the local administration representatives concrete recommendations. The target group of this event are the higher municipality government representatives (mayors or council presidents). However, the participation of the civil officers qualified to work in the field of assets management and determining and charging the local taxes, is not excluded.
