UNDP donated 4.5 million dollars for a trilateral project

The endemic species in Prespa will be protected

 

UNDP will donate about 4.5 million US dollars for the realization of part of the project “Integrated management with the ecosystems in the Lake Prespa basin in Macedonia, Greece and Albania”. The project foresees a complete protection of the biological diversity, the endemic and relict types of habitats, support the development of the forests, protect and develop the fish fund of the lake. It should improve the local population’s environment, protect the Prespa eco-values as well as the bio-diversities, and it will be in the function of creating sustainable agriculture, eco-tourist standards, better management with the communal and the agricultural waste. This trilateral project is aimed at promoting the friendship and the cooperation of the three countries, and it takes about 12.7 million American dollars for its complete realization.

As the contract signers  - the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Zoran Sapurik and the UNDP permanent representative in Skopje, Maria Louisa Silva said, the signing of the contract marks the friendship of people from these three countries, their desire for getting closer and cooperating, and at the same time it shows that the environmental protection neither recognizes nor accepts borders.
