The City of Skopje awarded OHO

The civil society organization OHO within the action called “I care about my Skopje” was awarded by the City of Skopje for their contribution to protecting the environment in out country. The need to develop and raise the environmental awareness with pre-school and school children in the time of transition and reforms of all structures of the system, including the education, are reasons that inevitably led to the designing and the realization of the OHO programme “We do not have a spare planet”, which is one of the most important NGO programmes implemented in our educational system. The programme saw the light of the day for the first time in 1999 as the first original Macedonian project that created educational materials for raising the public awareness and the meaning of protecting the environment. Since then, it has been perfected, developed and enriched with other educational materials and activities.

“The award we received from the City of Skopje inspires and motivates us greatly. It is nice to see that somebody has been following your work in the last 9 years and they are able to recognize and value it. Unfortunately, it is a rare case in our country, and when something like that occurs, you realize you are nit alone in the big game called “We do not have a spare planet”, but there are still other enthusiasts like you whose intentions towards the Planet Earth are good, and they, too, make efforts to do something positive for themselves and everybody else living on the Planet”, says Aleksandra Mladenovska, programme-manager at OHO.
