How are the citizens’ money spent?
The results of the research of the first national network of organizations – “Public Money Watchers” are confirming the lack of consistency when determining the public policies’ priorities through appropriate planning of the get funds for public policies that will meet the real needs of the citizens.
The need for introducing a programme budget for determining the goals of each of the programmes (that will also involve measurable indicators for accomplishing those goals) as well as the activities and the money allocated for each of them, remain a number one priority of the civil society organizations in Macedonia. The introduction of a programme budget will not only bring us closer to the EU standards in the field of public finances, but it will also alleviate the following of every debar of the citizens money that go into or are spent from the national budget – is the conclusion of the first national network of organizations “Public Money Watchers”, who part form: ESE, Civic Association, “Bairska Svetlina”, ORT, ARKA, CGK, CGI, MCGO, FORUM, CSRD, established within the project financed by ISC/USAID and UNIFEM under the leadership of the Center for Research and Policy Creation – CIKP Skopje.
Results of the project have been acquired from researches carried out on the following topics: Study programmes versus labor market; promoting Roma education; fair presence of all ethnic communities; free gynecological check-ups; YES for the gyms – NO for football pitches!!!; obligatory high school education.
