“Otvorete gi prozorcite”

Accessible information technology for six centres

At the press-conference that took place on 27 June 2007 at the Daily Centre for Children with Paralysis, the association “Otvorete gi prozorcite” presented the activities of the project “Removing barriers, creating equal opportunities”.

Within the project, “Otvorete gi prozorcite” will equip six organizations working with disabled individuals: The Association of Students and Young People with Disabilities, The Association of People with Disabilities “Spresa”, The Centre for Helping Mentally Challenged Individuals “Poraka” from Negotino, The Daily Centre for Children with Special Needs from Prilep, The Daily Centre for Children with Special Needs from Gostivar and The Daily Centre for People with Cerebral Paralysis from Skopje.

The organizations will provide a room for performing the computer activities and the internet connection will be provided for free by On.net for a year.

Besides the equipment that consists of adjusted machines and software, the team from “Otvorete gi prozorcite” will carry out a training course for trainers who will then train the staff in the selected organizations. The topics of the training will be related to the ways of using the adjusted machines and the software and practical knowledge on how to adjust the computers to the needs of the people with disabilities.

Besides On.net, the project was supported by the Lord Michelham Foundation from Switzerland and USAID.
