Capacity building of civil society organizations from Tetovo and Kumanovo

Focus on long-term development

OSCE has started a series of training sessions and workshops that are to enable part of the civil society organizations from Tetovo and Kumanovo to build their own capacities for strategic planning and to prepare a strategy for their organizations.

Tetovo and Kumanovo, as part of the former crisis regions, are covered by OSCE activities for trust building. For further harmonization of relations, a mutual taking action of various actors is necessary, the key role being the one of civil society organizations. In both municipalities there are civil society organizations that work with enthusiasm on problem solving in communities, but it is necessary to strengthen their capacities. The training program for strategic planning has been prepared and implemented by the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC), and its objective is to turn organizations’ attention to the changeable context they are acting in, to raise the awareness for a need for strategic planning and the need to focus on long-term development of their organizations.

In the course of 2007 OSCE is going to continue implementing training sessions for the organizations on other subjects that are in accordance with previously prepared plans for capacity building.
