NGO Infocenter

School for public relations

In the months of April and May, the NGO Infocenter hosted the classes of the School for Public Relations.

“It is an idea which we live since the very beginning and want to bring to life as we consider the public relations to be essential for the civil sector, the companies and the state institutions in a sense that they can thus provide respect, reputation and influence”, explained Biljana Bejkova, project-manager at NGO Inforcenter.

In the Republic of Macedonia there is still no academic institution that provides education in this field. For that reason, we decided to organize the School for Public Relations – not expensive, available for everyone, and which offered all the key elements for introducing the candidates to the term of public relations. The one-month thirty-class school is a dynamic connection of theory and practice. The classes are dedicated to the different segments of the public relations: introduction to public relations and reputation, internal communication, communication in crisis, communication with the media, managing events, examining the public opinion, building communication strategies and testing. All participants in the school are given a certificate.

The lecturers were some of the NGO Infocenter team, Emilija Trajkovikj – Hristova from IBM and Cosmofon, Professor Violeta Petrovska – Beshka and the journalists Goran Velickovski and Ljupco Zikov. The participants at the school came from several civil society organizations, from the state institutions, the business-sector, from SMEs, and there were also individuals interested in becoming more professional in their field of work.

The NGO Infocentre is planning to organize a few more schools by the end of the year and to further develop modules for advanced dealing with public relations in different areas, depending on the participants.
