“Eco-mission” wants Vodno to be declared monument of the nature

The eco-association “Eco-Mission” asked for a real protection of the park-forest Vodno from the urbanization and all other kinds of aggression against the environment. The ecologists demand that the idea for building a road towards the settlement “Soncev Grad” that would pass through Vodno to be abandoned, as well as to stop the initiative for building a Macedonian village near “St. Pantelejmon” Monastery. Eco-Mission wants the borders of the park-forest “Vodno’ to be physically marked, so that any usurpation of the protected area can be seen. It is also necessary to redefine the status of the park-forest Vodno according to the new Law for Environment.

They suggest that Vodno should be at least a monument of the nature and to be a real protected place. Even though the urbanization is the biggest evil that is happening to Vodno, there are a number of other violations of the law that occur there. The “Eco-Mission” president, Petar Bosevski, emphasizes the exploitation of stone, the picking of the forest fruit and herbs, the digging of the earth, etc.

“An end has to be put to all that, and the guards from “Parkovi I Zelenilo” are not in a position to fine the violators”, says Bosevski. Their complaints against the violators end in the drawers, without ever reaching the courts.

So far, the borders of the urban area and Vodno are only marked on maps and in the General Town Plan, but in the field, no one notices them. “Eco-Mission” suggests small polls to be placed at a certain distance, thus making it clear to both the citizens and the usurpers where the borders between the urban area and the forest are. The ecologists find the location of the buildings above “Panorama” Hotel suspicious. According to them, such buildings are not appropriate at the pass from an urban to a protected area. The same thing happens at the municipality of Karpos, where the so-called “Spanish Village” is located”. The efforts for bringing them down have no changed into ideas for their legalization’, they say at Eco-Mission, which only stimulates the potential usurpers to continue destroying Vodno.
