European Law Students Association

Part of the ELSA history was written in Macedonia

The European Law Students Association in Macedonia – ELSA RM hosted this year’s 36th International Presidential Meeting from 31st January to 3 February. The meeting took place in Ohrid and was attended by 60 guests from 22 different countries. “In its 10-year existence, ELSA RM has always cherished international orientation. However, organizing an event of such a big importance has been the greatest challenge we have had so far in our work’, said Katerina Todorovska from ELSA.

ELSA is the largest independent network of law students with about 30 000 members from over 200 European Law Universities located in 36 European countries. This meeting is statutory and is attended by the presidents of all ELSA groups. They passed conclusions on the future ELSA development directions. “We are especially proud that part of the ELSA history was written in Macedonia, since here in Ohrid, the presidents from 22 different countries voted for ELSA to develop as a united brand of common values, as well as like an organization which is primarily internationally oriented”, added Todorovska. The meeting is an opportunity to promote an ELSA group, but this tine; it was also a matter of promoting Macedonia as a country and a future EU member.

The event was supported by the Faculty of Law “Justinian I”, The Agency for Young and Sports and the Notary Chamber of Macedonia. ELSA RM has been active for ten years now as part of the Faculty of Law “Justinian I”. Fr more information on the organization and the event go to www.elsa-rm.org.mk and www.elsa.org.
