Open gate has started a campaign on local level
Fight against human trafficking in Macedonia
The first local campaign for implementation of the project “Fight against human trafficking” started in the beginning of February this year. The project carried out by the civil society organization Open Gate, is financially supported by the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) – Macedonia. The goal of the project is to raise the public awareness regarding this issue, as well as direct support to the victims of human trafficking, for which three campaigns have been planned: two local and one on a national level. Partners of Open Gate in the project are nine civil society organizations, which are part of the National Informal Network, which has been functioning for over a year now. In their towns and the surrounding they are going to implement media activities, organize tribunes, debates, workshops, educational-preventive classes, distribute materials and so on. The second campaign on local level has been foreseen for October 2005, while the campaign on national level that is to start in June includes the promotion of a 30-minute film that will serve as a method raising the citizens’ awareness regarding the problem of human trafficking and prevention from potential entering the network of human trafficking. A number of activities have been planned for the national campaign such as printing billboards, preventive-educational workshops, etc.
