VISION

The vision explains the wanted picture of reality. It presents an improved scenario for the organization’s target groups and it strives and works for it. It gives a clear and positive shape of the organization’s future and contributes to improving the image. It helps the members of the organization to explain the others “what they stayed behind” and what can people expect from them.

The clearly defined vision of all members, volunteers and employed in the organization gives them sense of importance of the tasks they carry out and acts as a strong motivating factor. It creates a strong mutual sense of “we”, which motivates people to put all their energy in what they do. The vision gives the organization strength to bear all the disturbances and crises. When turbulence occurs in the context, the vision helps, because it is a clear direction towards which we long. It enables people to deal with all doubts and uncertainties.

The vision is dynamic and it changes depending on the target group’s needs and the environment in which the organization works.

MISSION

The organization’s mission is a formulated and developed vision of the organization. The mission presents the organization’s target, the reason for its existence, it explains the main approach, explains what it wants the organization to achieve and which means to use.

The organization’s mission statement should be clearly defined and accepted by everyone related to the organization: members, board and personnel.

The mission statement should create a feeling of mutual ideology and mutual values. It gives the organization a direction. A good mission tells the organization what to do, not what not to do. The organization should revise its mission from time to time, to make sure it is relevant and appropriately explains the organization’s existence.
